Position: Construction Cost Manager

This position will be directly responsible for planning and executing project estimates and costs throughout the various design stages, as well as during project execution. This is fast paced work with concurrent assignments and frequent deadlines, requiring self-discipline, excellent time management and solid organizational skills.

Essential Functions: 

• Produces cost estimates at concept, scheme and detailed design stage.
• Oversee the production of a detailed BOQ for tender.
• Manage the tender process, review and analyse tender returns and prepare a recommendation to the client.
• As primary project cost controller, ensures that the project remains on budget through the design and construction phases.
• Assesses and values progress payments and change requests.
• Reviews and compares scopes of work, production rates, and cost data.
• Preparation of earned value reports.
• Prepares, reviews, and updates cash-flows.
• Estimates variation orders for Subcontractors/GC Contractors.
• Reviews and evaluates payment certificates for Subcontractors/GC Contractor.
• Evaluates and negotiates variations and change orders in liaison with the Contract Administrator, Commercial Manager, Design and Construction Team.
• Evaluates and negotiates final accounts settlements.

Skills/Essentials:

• Capable of taking-off quantities and measurements from drawings and/or CAD/Revit models
• Be highly proficient in Excel
• Develop detailed cost estimates from drawings; identify deficiencies and/or questions.
• Be competent in spoken & written presentations for estimates, reconciling documents, etc.
• Have an understanding for the make-up of net-costs; including review of material prices, labor rates/ fringe benefits
• Be willing to accumulate, evaluate and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates (benchmarking)
• Be confident to coordinate and liaise with project management throughout the estimate development and/or the design team
• Capacity to handle pressure.
• Multitasking is a must.
• Strong focus on quality.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience working on FIDIC, JCT or NEC contracting is a plus
• Knowledge of measurement software and digital tools like Cost-X; AutoCAD and Revit is a plus

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum three (3) years in leading construction activities
• Bachelor's degree or certification in Finance/ Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Cost control or related field.
